A charming tale (one that inspires to me paint)
My daughter Nina and I were having an interesting conversation while driving down the road one day. And if you have little ones around you, you know that they bring up "the big stuff" every once in a while =) On that day she asked me what she should be when she grows up. She had several things in mind but she just didn't know which to pick. This was apparently bothering her, so she asked my advice and wanted me to give her a clue which one she should be. On one hand she wanted to be a Police Woman but on the other she wanted to be a Veterinarian. Now keep in mind that my daughter is only 7 and she was completely serious about all of this. She was actually trying to decide right then and there what her goal in life should be.
So I looked into her big and beautiful blue eyes and said this "Nina, when you were born God gave you a gift. He might have even given you more than one. God gives each one of us special gifts. As you get older, you will start to discover what those wonderful gifts are so I think you should wait to decide. I think you should follow your heart wherever it takes you."
This ends the conversation and I can see her little brilliant mind working through what I said. Some time passes, other conversations occur and we are nearing home. Then all of a sudden, with a look of excitement on her face, my daughter says "Mommy!! I've figured out your gift!! You know, the one God gave you! It's painting!"
And so when I am feeling blue and I feel like getting a "real" job, I remember that God doesn't make mistakes. And I have my little brilliant daughter to thank for reminding me =)
