We began caring for the wildlife at Winghaven in 1986. Since then our ponds have become a rest stop for the many species of birds that migrate the Pacific flyway from the North to the desert of Anza-Borrego and beyond. Winghaven1 became a sort of online gift shop helping fund our dreams.
I have always loved Asian art and have enjoyed collecting Netsuke and small carvings for many years. I consider this love second only to the study of engaged Buddhism. Winghaven1 is my way to share these loves with others.
In College my field of study was Geology/Palentology and I have a fondness for minerals and semiprecious stones. In making my pendants and amulets I try to choose each piece for its intrinsic look and feel, the balance between mineral and matrix stone. In doing so I have tried to assemble a collection that has both value and an intriguing appeal.
Many of our items represent wildlife, beginning with the Netsuke and most recently I have added a collection of Made In The USA .925 Sterling Silver charms, again there is the familiar wildlife theme.
In shopping for our store I try to choose each item as I would for my own collection. The books are favorites, duplicates of ones on my own bookshelf. The Malas, Jades and Amulets are each designed and chosen carefully as if for my own jewelry box.
As I enter into my recent retirement I have decided to downsize a little, not Winghaven itself but the clutter of possessions that accumulate over the years, you will see a few new catagories. I hope you enjoy the Flea Market and Antique and Vintage Shops to help share my treasures and collections.
I take care to package each item carefully and ship by the best and most affordable service. Are you buying more than one of similar items? Please email me before you pay. If I am able to ship them in the same package I can save you money on postage.
