Mr. Paul F. Wishnow has been involved with the sale, design, repair, manufacture and restoration of household, commercial and antique furniture since 1944.  His background in home furnishings, art objects, antiques, carpeting, silver, crystal, china and personal effects has given him the ability to approach these areas with a qualified expertise.  He assumed controlling interest in January 1958 of the family business of Wishnow Furniture and Antiques, founded in 1922.  It is considered the oldest antique shop in the area.  As no local inventory is purchased, there is no conflict of interest.

He has made certified appraisals for individuals, companies, estates, business and casualty losses and is recognized as an expert in his field by City, County, State and Federal officials.

Mr. Wishnow is a graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science Degree and holds a Life Professional Texas Teacher’s Certificate.  He was President of the Texas Upholsterers Association for many years and is affiliated with many Civic, International and Professional groups.

In 1974 he established Furniture Appraisal Service of Texas, an independent fee appraisal company, establishing restoration costs, actual or fair market values for personal property, antiques, residential contents and decorative art.

He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser with the American Society of Appraisers, with a designation in personal property, and currently serves as president of the Houston Chapter.  He has been tested, certified and re-certified as a professional evaluator.  Mr. Wishnow is an Associate Member of the International Society of Appraisers, and served as President of the Houston Chapter for the year 1984-1985.

He hosts a live weekly talk show on News-Talk 1070 KNTH AM Radio, Sundays from

1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., as “The Antique Man” on “The Antique and Collectible Show.”
