Proud working member of the
Disabled Online Users Association (DOUA)
Who am I?I'm a devoted wife, a soapmaker, an avid reader, a homeschooling mom, an herbalist-in-training, a brown-thumbed gardener, a prayer warrior, a baby rocker...I wear so many hats!
I am a California native, but was raised all over these wonderful United States. I consider Colorado home, even though I only lived there four years and have since made my home in the Central Oregon High Desert.
Dearest Beloved and I met while we were both working in "The Industry" (film industry, for the uninitiated) and share a love of movies old and new. We have been married twenty years now and have six wonderful children who range in age from 25 to 5 years old, who are also all California natives!
In my teens, a previously undiscovered birth defect (hip displasia) reared its ugly head in the form of misshapen leg bones and weakened knees. Between numerous injuries, I had 13 reconstructive surgeries to try to correct the situation (this was back in the 'olden days' before microsurgery) and spent most of my teen years and early 20's in casts and on crutches.
For a time, I was able to function and work rather normally, but in recent years I have developed arthritis from the repeated surgeries and injuries. I have good days when I walk slowly, not-so-good days when I walk very slowly with a cane, and bad days when the recliner and pain meds are my best friends.
Because of my disability, I have discovered eBay as a way to supplement our income. Most of my sales profits are used to provide opportunities for our children that they wouldn't otherwise have -- gymnastics or martial arts instruction, for instance.
I am greatly indebted to the Disabled Online Users Association for their guidance and mentoring program which has helped me put together this "About ME page" and fine-tune my listings. Please visit DOUA, support them if you are able, and tell your friends!
