hi! i'm known as xiola, and i run mad-teaparty.net. i am an independant fibre artist and specialize in various one-of-a-kind fantasy wear. i love making unique art-wear, and i make accessories for people-folk as well as the occasional outfit for dollfie-style ball-jointed dolls! i love to crochet and sew, and have recently forayed into the area of art-quilting! at the moment, what i am most "known for" would be the crocheted Katamari Hats i sell, but this is not the only thing i enjoy making ^_^ most of my items are ONE OF A KIND! this means you will not find them anywhere else, and i will not make any two *exactly* alike. my prices may not be the lowest but rest assured that this is because you are getting a well made item that is NOT a mass-produced item you could find elsewhere, but rather a work of art that individual time and care was put into, to make it something special. each piece is personal and says something about the artist and the one who chooses it. a one of a kind accessory is the kind of thing you can keep for years, and will say something special about you when you wear it. for instance, wearing a unique hat could say "i love red, and have a firey and creative side!" instead of just "i shop at the gap". it will set you apart from others and show off your artistic soul XD! styles i am influenced by and use in my work are: fantasy, geek-fandom, dolls, amano art, art nouveau, gothic lolita and gothic aristocrat, historical period style especially 1750's french and 1870's bustle periods, bohemian and gypsy look, japanese, asian, and middle eastern traditional dance dresses, etc. i especially like to make: - hats (fairy hats, geek hats, kitty hats, crazy hats, etc... i love weird hats!) - handbags (gothic lolita and unique art-quilted bags!) - doll outfits (fairies, formalwear, etc) things to look forward to: - art quilts, art quilt bags and other art-quilted items! - faery and takarazuka outfits for BJD - special kitty hats! (cuter than your ordinary kitty hat :D) - cute, nicely lined, gothic lolita style handbags and other cute japanese influenced handbags - amusing and bratty logo t-shirts for BJD's (once i find a good source of transfer paper). you can find progress photos, new product news and more, at the Teaparty Dressup livejournal! more info and updates on products can soon be found on mad-teaparty.net! The rest of me: i am am avid <a href="http://images.cosplay.com/showgallery.php?userid=4773">cosplayer</a> (since 1999), and have been dabbling in sewing and fibre arts since grade school, an interest which has become more serious over time. i am 23, female, and canadian-born (which i feel lucky and grateful about). my values swing to the left, i'm a daydreamer, and my favourite colour is turquoise. other favourites: drink: lattes and cafe mocha (P.S. i am not "looking for anyone" and come-ons turn me off so please avoid it if you're trying to get on my good side). dislikes: hardcore republicans, george bush, processed cheese products, ground beef, a good deal of popular fashion, pointy-toed stilettos, high-heeled sneakers & hiking shoes, stupid cosplayers, stupid people, doing dishes and laundry, bad parenting, fox news, anti-sex-ed laws, petco, etc. |
