With 2008 rapidly coming to a close, I suppose it's a good time to finally update my About Me page. I haven't redone it in ages, due to a combination of laziness, financially induced detachment from the hobby and the simple fact that eBay has largely jumped the shark. Anyway, here's my obligatory end-of-the year list.

That only two of my 10 best pickups of the year - the Latham and Konetchy, whose somewhat difficult reverse went unnoticed by everyone but me - were eBay wins says a lot about what's become of this venue. It's not so much the ever increasing fees or the mandatory electronic payments as it is the slow death of true auctions in favor of fixed-price listings.
