NOTICE - Post Early for Christmas Air Mails

In view of the close proximity to Christmas, it is anticipated that outbound airmail volume will increase. Moreover, there has been a significant increase in the general demand for air cargo space but supply of air cargo space is very stringent. This has caused delays to some of our outbound mails to destinations in the US and Europe, as well as Brazil. In the circumstances, customers are encouraged to arrange early posting of their Christmas mails.

Because the delay shipment, I would like to provide information as follows:-
1. Due to the financial tsunami in late 2008, airlines had cut down their flight scale, which led to the decrease in total outward flight capacity.
2. The year end peak season for outward postal service demand had come earlier this year, which led to the increase in outward flight capacity demand, which airlines had difficulty to cope with because of the time lag in establishing additional scheduled flights.
3. To cope with the increasing demand from customers, Hongkong Post had already:-
- obtained additional allotments from airlines as far as possible,
- deployed additional manpower and facilities to handle customers' postings more effectively
4. Though we've already tried very hard to implement every measures which might help, still we could not eliminate the possibility of delay for certain postings. Nevertheless, we would adopt a first-in-first-out approach to handle all postings properly.
