The tactics and waiting pay off.

Hi, my name is Paul Long and this is the story, so far, of how I have come to be the proprietor of York Carp Centre.

 Firstly, thank you for taking the time to visit York Carp Centre ebay shop. I hope you will call into York Carp Centre for a chat about our favourite pastime, fishing, but even if that is not possible I'm always happy to talk about fishing and give whatever advice I can so please ring or email if you can't visit the shop.

My interest and obsession with fishing started when I was a few years old and I spent many hours beside the local rivers, ponds and lakes trying to catch whatever I could and always hoping for a monster....some things never change!

In the mid 1980's in my early teenage years I began match fishing with some success, winning the York Amalagamation of Anglers Junior competition a couple of times and becoming a member of the York Junior Match Squad. In 1988 I won a York & District Open Match with over 20lbs of barbel, becoming the youngest ever winner of a YDAA open at the age of fourteen. Still a great memory but not too long after this my interest in match fishing declined and I began spending my time specimen fishing particularly for Carp, Barbel and Pike and this is still where my main interest is and I have spent many hours pitting my wits against these species all over the country.

I opened York Carp Centre, Yorks first tackle shop catering for Carp and specialist big fish anglers,  in 2005 to offer a service to those anglers fishing for specimen Carp, Barbel, Pike, Catfish and other large freshwater species.

I have spent thousands of hours fishing and have a good knowledge of local waters and many further afield and use this knowledge when choosing the tackle I stock as I know I don't want to be let down by poor tackle when connected to a good fish and I'm sure my customers feel the same.
