Several years ago I started selling Balinese handycrafts on Ebay while my wife and I were living on the island of Guam. Bali was just a short 4 hour hop by Air Micronesia. At that time we had already been traveling to Indonesia several times a year for about 10 years. While in Guam we started to become interested in Ebay and on a whim took a look at what was on auction from Bali. We were shocked at most of the items on ebay. Many were simply tourist junk and/or way over priced. More often than not the sellers did not have the faintest idea of what they were selling and had the names and stories all mixed up. Since we had close contacts with true artisans in Bali and a strong interest in the culture, we deside to bring back a few things to see if they sold. Over the next few years we sold close to 700 items on ebay and never had one person state to me or to ebay that any item was not as described in my auction. In fact just the opposite happened. Needless to say we were very pleased. Last year was one of transition for us. We left Guam and returned to our house in the woods of rural New Hampshire. Our first few months were spent doing 5 years worth of house repairs and dealing with finding work. Then we had to deal with our first winter in 6 years. After a year being off line I started to put up more Balinese items on ebay. As before we will include items from other areas of the world we travel to. In the past these included Greece, Fed. We make semi-frequent trips to Bali. If there is something you are looking for let me know. I will tell you when our next trip will be and we can work out the details on a case by case basis. I have no problem in being a middleman for you. If you are a puppeteer, I have several contacts with various puppet makers. The range in quality is from standard to a preformance puppet. (both Golik and Kulit) All are made in Bali or Java. As you would guess the better quality, the higher the price. Somehow it always works that way. So let me know if I can help you.
