As A Buyer...
First, I like to ask seller's questions so we both know what we're getting into. If you are not responsive, I probably won't bid on your item. Some sellers like that, while others don't.
I take my responsibility as a buyer seriously and I always pay for items I bid on. I've never defaulted and make it a point to transfer funds as soon as I'm notified I've won an item. I keep a close watch on my bids and am informed about when they end so seller's get paid promptly. It's my way of saying thanks for answering all of my questions!
What I Buy...
I'm a HOMEBREW enthusiast who uses E-bay to find great deals on ingredients, equipment and books that deal with crafting lagers, ales and stouts at home. I especially favor German-style beers, including:
- Kolsch
- Munich Helles/Maibock
- Marzen
- Dunkelweizen or Low-Ester Wheat
- Bavarian Pilsner
Other favorites include blonde and amber ales, cream or dry stouts and English premium bitters. If you have a favorite recipe, share it! I've just started my brew hobby and am always looking for fellow boilers to share war stories, ideas and enthusiasm.
Why I Like E-bay...
Thanks to E-bay, I've been able to assemble, construct and supplement much of my own equipment for far less than I'd buy it retail. For example, I recently made a complete mash/lauter tun system, including hot liquor tank, for around $100.00 using round 5-gallong beverage coolers and a pre-assembled faucet I found for auction on E-bay.
My philosophy concerning E-bay is that it an auction house, and by extension, the free-market. That means you should expect buyers to seek the lowest possible price for the maximum amount of utility. Buyers should understand sellers are trying to maximize profits. Somewhere in there, both parties can be satisfied. This is called the equilibrium point and when it's met, both parties are happy. When it's not, neither should get bent out of shape! It isn't personal, it's just business!
And if you're still awake after reading my mini-lecture on economics...
A Little About Me...
When I'm not making a mess out of my kitchen at home, I enjoy reading spy novels, Presidential biographies and American history. I love listening to old jazz records and am a big fan of Chicago, harmonica and electric/steel guitar blues.
