Remember that handmade items from American crafters helps to grow our
economy!
I am now Cotton Eyed Jo, but was once swimminginfabric. Still have tons of fabrics in
my stash, and use them for quilts, dolls, and other prim items such as ornies or bowl
fillers. On occasion, have done mystery box auctions (flat rate postage and insurance required) for a box
stuffed with fabric. I consider sewing from my stash to be upcycling and also felt woolen sweaters or items of clothing for wool to use for my newest fiber art. Rug hooking and needlepunch items, as well as woolen ornies and pins.
Love using vintage fabrics such as chenille for porch pillows or tea cozys and call that upcycling too. Don't think it is bad to give the tatters of a beautiful quilt, spread, or vintage tablecloth a renewed life in one of my projects. Many of my items combine a vintage item, like a hand embroidered state block combined with new fabric and batting. Hope you'll come on by my auctions for a visit.
