Elaine (known to her many eBay friends as *zip) passed away quietly at the age of 58. Since 2003 she had spent many hours on the eBay community forums helping people, and in 2005 eBay honored her with a Community Hall of Fame award. Elaine's About ME page on shipping has been one of the most oft referenced ME pages on eBay. She touched the lives of many through her mentoring, volunteer work, and her caring and concern for others.

The more you give, the more you get.
The more you laugh, the less you fret.
The more you do unselfishly,
The more you live abundantly.
The more of everything you share,
The more you'll always have to spare.
The more you love, the more you'll find
That life is good and friends are kind.
For only what we give away,
Enriches us from day to day.

Memories of *zip (the eBay Chatter)
In the mode of Stephen Covey...
Zippy's 10 Habits of Highly Effective Boardies
Highly effective board posters:
- Always give people the benefit of the doubt.
- Always give people a way to save face.
- Always give credit where credit is due to other posters.
- Always admit it when they are wrong or have goofed and then proceed to set the record straight.
- Personalize praise; depersonalize criticism. "Your pictures look terrific; the description is a bit lacking."
- Give people permission not to take their advice by personalizing it. "If this were my auction, I would..." or "I might..."
- Always criticize the behavior, not the person. And even then, instead of saying "that was a dumb thing to do," they say "perhaps
that wasn't the best thing to do."
- Always ignore baiting. After awhile, when folks figure out that a certain poster won't respond, they won't do it. Absolute
consistency in not responding is essential or it won't work.
- Never post anything that they wouldn't be willing to see on the front page of their local newspaper.
- Make new users feel welcome. How? By being friendly, avoiding technical jargon and board shorthand which only serves to make
people feel closed out. Effective boardies keep private information about other people private and they don't allude to private jokes on the
boards.
