My website is at... www.elvenkrafte.com Having been blessed with some meager artistic talents by our Heavenly Father, I've been creating things with my hands since I was old enough to hold a crayon. From the time I was a young boy I've spent a lot of my free time either sketching or sculpting and once I started on the road to a "higher education", I began exploring every artistic media I could get my hands in or on. Graduating college with a degree in commercial art, I had then some experience in several styles of painting, life drawing, sculpting and computer graphics. I could do a decent portrait or even throw a pot with clay. A few years later I found myself doing wood carvings, chasing those memories of my childhood when I was constantly wrapping up a cut finger! Nutcrackers, wood spirits, indians, and santas were what I found in the wood I carved then but they just weren't selling enough to say I was actually making any money doing it. Around Christmas of 2003 I started carving up some deer antler, making little figures of indians and santas, a crucifix for my father, and some tiny boxes. By January of that year God had led me to discover a few buttons carved out of antler and I thought "Hmmmm, why not....I can do that". So I carved a few figural buttons and put them up on ebay to see what would happen. At first things moved kind of slow but, after spending some time in prayer for encouragement and guidance, I came home from work one day to find that I had half a dozen emails from around the U.S.. Those emails were from some wonderful people who began educating me about button collecting. I ended up joining the National Button Society and attending a few of the annual conventions, and have met a great number of wonderful and friendly people involved in collecting. ...eventually buttons even led to carving a few one of a kind thimbles.... After carving and selling buttons for a while on ebay several people had contacted me and expressed interest in seeing what I could do with bakelite, a material I was not then familiar with. That seems like years ago now but was actually less than 4 years past. I've carved a LOT of bakelite since then in pin, bracelet and ring form. I like making whimsical characters, whether in bakelite jewelry or carved buttons, and most of the pieces I create are meant to be one of a kind items. On my about me page here you will find pictures of a little bit of everything that I've carved. I am always happy to discuss your ideas for a special design and I have a supply of various ivories, antler, wood, stones, shell and several colors of bakelite that I can work with. So, that's me....I carve pretty much every day most weeks although I do try to take Sundays off to thank the Good Lord. I am always happy to take commission work and/or talk about your ideas for buttons, pins or other carvings.
