The DOS Manifesto

Welcome eBayers to my "me" page!

My name is David, handyman and cook of the house. I am a graduate of Tri-County Technical College, with Industrial Electronics Technology (IET) as my major. My favorite thing here at eBay is the consumer electronics. I like browsing the categories under this section and communicating with sellers and the Q&A Board. Recent laptop troubles have resulted in me becoming a regular on the computer board too. I currently work at the only Electrolux refrigeration plant in the USA as a back-up for my entire department. Unless someone in my department is out, I usually act as material handler and as the reliever when people go on break.

Some of my hobbies...

I have a lot of potted plants on our front porch and maintain a flower bed and 15'x15' garden. I like working on computers too, as you might have concluded from the "Welcome" paragraph. What kind of computers? Any kind - laptops, desktops, fast, slow, old, new... Well, mostly old, but that's only because old ones are the ones that usually need working on. I also like working on and upgrading my radio controlled vehicles. As of now, my RC truck can play my favorite music over a mini sub, turn on it's headlights at night, do a wheelie continuously until the battery gives out, and haul about 50LBS of rocks in a wagon. My RC car can go 0-to-60 in about one second with it's 3 turn x2 electric motor. As for my stereo, at 100x4 watts RMS with 3 subs, 4 tweeters and 4 midranges, it's a force to be reckoned with (Update: system is now 440 Watts RMS overall). It's quite loud for its size, with frequency response of 1Hz-30kHz. All this obtained from what used to be 50Wx2. Another one of my projects is my 1972 Buick Electra. With 455ci. 4 bbl all Buick engine, original everything (excluding gaskets), low riding supersoft suspension, and enough power to haul a wrecker, this 19ft. beast is my pride. That along with my economical 305 powered longbed regular cab Silverado in my opinion makes an unbeatable team of economy, power, and capacity that can't be beat. As stated above, started recently is a medium sized vegetable garden (one of my many outdoor projects). With onions, peas, snap beans (green beans), cayenne peppers, tomatoes, banana peppers, and corn it's a fairly good variety in 125 square feet. I have a few more... make that a lot more, but you've probably had enough of this, so feel free to check out the pics, help section, and a few of my favorite sites!

Watch out fellas, the old OS is back...

Huh? The car in the background? Oh, that's just my other car ;-)
For real, I got one just like it... 1:20 scale.

Picture descriptions below....

Descriptions of pictures:

Top left - "The car" - it needs some work, but it's still a beauty!

Top center - My daily driver, a 1988 longbed Scottsdale Chevrolet - My car is wider and longer than this vehicle.

Top right - Tamiya says to Chevrolet: "You wanna piece of me!?"

Center left - My Tamiya radio controlled truck - This thing can race real cars!

Center center - "Gardian of the garden"

Center right - A side view picture of my porch plants (There are two more plants in hanging baskets not shown.)

Bottom center - My indoor garden

(I really need to update those pics - that truck is a different color now)

And here I've decided to dedicate a small portion of my "me" page to sellers
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've got six words for ya:

1.STAY
2.ON
3.TOP
4.OF
5.YOUR
6.GAME

It's incredible how bad some sellers are (notice I said some, not all). Don't use sneaky descriptions (e.g. describing the features of something while conveniently forgetting to make it known that it doesn't work). Don't charge $20.00 to ship something that weighs one or two ounces. Have pictures of the actual item. If you're going to sell to English-speaking customers, learn to speak English yourself. And for pete's sake, don't wait until a few minutes before or after the auction ends to answer a question. Especially you "Power Sellers" who think they are too good to actually deal with the customer or help with their problems with your products.

And shame on eBay for not taking better measures to protect the buyers for fear of losing the fee-paying sellers.

========================================================================================
And to all the under-appreciated decent down-to-earth honest sellers - I really appreciate your dedication and patience, especially considering some buyers can be just as bad. Sellers like you are truly what makes eBay a worthwhile place to shop. And to you I wish good times and success.
